Lightweight, powerful, and uncompromisingly versatile. This is the Fenix HM55R rechargeable headlamp, designed for every situation. Thanks to its compact 18350 Li-ion battery, it weighs only 105 grams, but its maximum output of 1200 lumens with a beam distance of up to 175 meters will astound you. It offers three types of lighting – a spotlight, a floodlight, and red light – so you always have the right light at hand, whether you're exploring terrain, working in the workshop, or just want to read in your tent. The spotlight reflector creates a well-focused light beam with a long reach, and the second reflector has a very wide and smooth light pattern. The luminous flux of the spotlight reflector is up to 1200 lumens, the wide-beam reflector offers a maximum output of 350 lumens and a neutral shade of light with a high color rendering index (CRI) of >90. A red light and a 5-lumen flash are also available. It is powered by a single 18350 Li-ion battery with a 1600 mAh capacity, which is included in the package and charges via a modern USB-C connector directly in the headlamp. In an emergency, the headlamp can also be powered by RCR123A (16340) batteries and a disposable CR123A battery. The headlamp is equipped with a wide, comfortable strap. The strap is perforated for quick sweat wicking and features reflective elements that ensure good passive visibility when running on the road.
The construction of the HM55R is fully dustproof and waterproof up to a depth of 2 meters according to the IP68 standard, and it is also impact-resistant to falls from a height of 2 meters. The headlamp is also equipped with a runtime extension feature. The HM55R is available in 3 stylish colors and is suitable for professional use, various sports activities (hiking, camping, running, cycling, skiing...), underground exploration, fishing, and other uses. It is guaranteed to serve you perfectly in any situation!
All parameters of the headlamp (luminous flux, battery life, waterproofness, beam distance, and impact resistance) are measured in accordance with the ANSI/NEMA FL 1-2009 standard.
Parameters of the Fenix HM55R Rechargeable Running Headlamp

Using the Fenix HM55R Headlamp
From the factory, there may be an insulating cap on the battery. Remove it from the battery before first use.
On/Off and Mode Switching - The white light is turned on by holding the switch for 0.5 seconds; the headlamp switches to red light with a quick double press of the switch. The power modes of the selected light color are then cycled by a short press of the switch. The light is turned off again by holding the switch for 0.5 s.
Switching Between Spotlight and Floodlight - Switch between the spotlight and floodlight by holding the switch for 1.2 seconds.
Memory for the Last Set Power Mode - The headlamp has a memory and will turn on in the last set mode for the respective reflector, with the exception of the highest mode of the spotlight reflector and the red light modes.
Intelligent Proximity Sensor - The headlamp has a built-in safety circuit. When the reflector gets closer than 6 cm to an illuminated object for more than 1.5 seconds, it automatically reduces the power to 30 lumens to prevent overheating and potential burns or damage to the illuminated object. When the light moves away from the illuminated object for more than 0.8 seconds, it automatically restores the previously used power mode.
Disabling/Enabling the Proximity Sensor - With the headlamp off, press and hold the electronic switch for 6 seconds. The headlamp will flash twice, indicating that this feature is enabled. To disable the feature, press and hold the electronic switch again for 6 seconds with the headlamp off. The headlamp will flash 8 times, indicating that the feature is disabled.
Battery Replacement - Unscrew the battery cap of the headlamp and insert the battery according to the marked polarity. Then, fully tighten the cap again.
Charging - Flip open the dust cover and plug the USB-C charging cable into the headlamp's charging port. After charging is complete, replace the dust cover. During charging, the indicator glows red. When fully charged, it will light up green. The typical charging time is 2 hours with a 5V/1A USB source for a completely discharged headlamp. The headlamp can be used while charging, but the charging time will be extended, and the available power modes will depend on the current battery charge level. Note: Fenix 18350 and 16340/RCR123A (3.6-3.7V) batteries can be charged.
Battery Charge Status Indication - Each time the headlamp is turned on, or when the button is pressed while the headlamp is off, the indicator LED activates for three seconds. If the indicator diode glows green, the battery is charged to more than 80%. A flashing green light means 50-80% capacity. If it glows red, it is charged to 20-50%. A flashing red light indicates that less than 20% of the battery capacity remains. This works only with rechargeable Fenix 18350 and 16340/RCR123A batteries.
Intelligent Overheat Protection - When the headlamp is used in high power modes for extended periods, a large amount of heat accumulates. When the headlamp reaches a temperature of 55°C or higher, it will automatically reduce the output by a few lumens to lower the temperature. When the temperature drops below 55°C, the output will gradually increase again.
Low Battery Warning - If the battery voltage drops below a preset level, the headlamp will reduce the brightness to a lower level. After reaching the lowest power mode, the battery status indicator will begin to flash red to remind you to recharge or replace the battery.
Note: This works only with rechargeable Fenix 18350 and 16340/RCR123A batteries.
Warning
- Do not disassemble the sealed parts yourself, as this will void the warranty.
- Use only high-quality Li-ion 18350 batteries; if using disposable CR123A batteries, do not attempt to charge them in the headlamp.
- If the headlamp flickers, does not switch to higher power modes, or does not light up, it may be for one of the following reasons:
- The battery is low – charge it or replace it.
- The contacts inside the headlamp are dirty – clean them with a cotton swab dipped in alcohol.
Warranty
Five-year warranty on the headlamp and two years on the battery.
