The Fenix E40R rechargeable pocket flashlight offers a luminous flux of up to 5000 lumens in the short-term Turbo mode and a beam distance of up to 242 meters. It is powered by the included high-capacity 21700 Li-ion battery with a capacity of 5500 mAh. Recharging is done via the USB-C port on the side of the flashlight, which supports fast charging. With an appropriate adapter, a fully depleted battery charges in approximately 1.5 hours. The flashlight combines a toggle switch and an electronic button. The toggle switch is used for locking, turning on, and instant Turbo activation, while the button selects the standard output modes and strobe. Six lighting functions allow you to choose between high performance and a runtime of up to 89.5 hours. It features a practical magnet in the tail cap, enabling the flashlight to be attached to iron objects, as well as a pocket clip for easy carrying. The durable aluminum body and IP68 waterproof rating make the Fenix E40R ideal for a wide range of outdoor, professional, and everyday activities.
All flashlight parameters (luminous flux, battery runtime, waterproofing, beam distance, and impact resistance) are measured in accordance with the ANSI/PLATO FL1 standard.

Using the Fenix E40R rechargeable flashlight
From the factory, there may be an insulating cap on the battery inside the flashlight. Remove it from the battery before first use.
To turn on the flashlight, move the toggle switch from the locked position to the standard lighting position. Moving it back to the locked position will turn off and lock the flashlight. If the switch is in the standard lighting position, the flashlight can also be turned on and off by holding the electronic button for 0.5 seconds. With the flashlight turned on, short presses of the button cycle through the outputs in the order of 30 -> 150 -> 350 -> 1500 lumens. The flashlight remembers the last selected standard mode, except for the 1500 lumens mode, after which it will turn on at 350 lumens the next time.
Instant Turbo - push and hold the toggle switch in the Turbo position. The flashlight will provide a short-term maximum output of up to 5000 lumens. Upon releasing the switch, it will return to the standard mode. To activate the 2500-lumen Strobe, hold the electronic button for 1.2 seconds while in the standard lighting position.
Charging - flip open the silicone cover of the charging port on the side of the flashlight and plug in the included USB-C cable. Connect the other end to a suitable USB power adapter. During charging, the indicator glows red; when fully charged, it turns green. Charging a fully depleted Fenix ARB-L21-5500 battery takes approximately 1.5 hours with a 9 V / 2.3 A adapter while the flashlight is off. The flashlight can also be used while charging. Once completed, disconnect the cable and close the port cover.
Intelligent overheat protection - when the temperature reaches 60 °C or higher, the flashlight automatically steps down the output to reduce heat. Once the temperature drops below 60 °C, the output will gradually return to the originally set level.
Battery level indication - while the flashlight is off, briefly press the electronic button. The ring indicator will light up for 3 seconds, even when locked. The battery status is also displayed for 3 seconds each time it is turned on. A solid green light indicates 85-100 % charge, green flashing indicates 50-85 %, solid red indicates 25-50 %, and red flashing indicates less than 25 %.
Locking the controls - move the toggle switch to the locked position. This prevents accidental activation during transport in a pocket or luggage. To unlock, move the switch back to the standard lighting position. Unwanted activation during storage or transport can also be prevented by removing the battery.
Low battery warning - as the voltage drops, the flashlight gradually reduces the output down to the lowest 30-lumen mode. If the voltage drops further in this mode, the indicator will start flashing red. Recharge or replace the battery as soon as possible. When the voltage drops below 2.8 V, the flashlight automatically turns off to prevent over-discharging the battery.
Battery replacement - unscrew the tail cap of the flashlight and insert the battery with the positive (+) pole facing the head. Then, fully tighten the tail cap again.
Warning
- Do not disassemble the sealed part in the flashlight head yourself, as this will void the warranty.
- Do not look directly into the light source and keep the flashlight out of the reach of children.
- At high output levels, especially in Turbo mode, the flashlight heats up quickly. Exercise caution to prevent burns and do not place the flashlight head near flammable objects.
- Before placing it in a pocket or luggage, turn off and lock the flashlight.
- Use only high-quality 21700 Li-ion batteries with protective electronics, preferably from the Fenix ARB-L21 series. Insert the battery with the positive pole facing the flashlight head.
- Remove the battery from the flashlight if it will not be used for an extended period.
- If the sealing O-ring appears damaged after prolonged use, replace it with a suitable spare to maintain the flashlight's waterproof rating.
- If the flashlight flickers, shines intermittently, or does not turn on, it may be due to one of the following reasons:
- The battery is dead; recharge or replace it.
- The contacts on the battery or flashlight are dirty – clean them with a cotton swab dipped in alcohol.
Warranty
Five-year warranty on the flashlight and two years on the battery.
