The Fenix HL17R is a multifunctional, ultralight headlamp that will impress you with an output of up to 500 lumens and a beam distance of 100 meters. Despite weighing only 65 grams, it houses an integrated 1000 mAh rechargeable battery with convenient USB-C charging directly on the body of the lamp. The light source is a modern Luminus SST-20 LED with a cooler light tint and supplementary colored LEDs. The unique magnetic mounting of the headlamp in its holder allows for its immediate removal and use as a handheld flashlight. With the included clip, you can attach it to a backpack strap, a pocket, or a belt. Thanks to the strong magnet, you can attach it to any iron surface as a work light, a small lamp, or even simply clip it onto your clothing. Wear it on your head, in your hand, on your chest – the possibilities are endless!
The HL17R offers a total of four white light brightness levels and five atmospheric color modes. Whether you need a powerful beam for hiking, a soft light for reading a map, ambient light as a campsite lantern, or a safety flasher and signal light, this headlamp has it all. The Gesture-sensing function allows you to turn the light on and off with a wave of your hand, so your hands can be covered in mud, oil, or anything else, and the lamp will stay clean. The headlamp maintains an IP66 waterproof rating, so it can easily withstand heavy rain. Reflective elements on the headband increase your safety when moving in the dark. Forget about the headlamp slipping. The dual elastic headband perfectly distributes pressure, providing a nearly 'weightless' feeling when worn. You can wear it for hours and barely notice it's there. Thanks to its versatility, low weight, and durable design, the HL17R is the perfect choice for hikers, runners, campers, anglers, DIY enthusiasts, and for everyday carry in a backpack as a standby or emergency light.
All parameters of the headlamp (luminous flux, battery life, waterproofness, beam distance, and impact resistance) are measured in accordance with the ANSI/NEMA FL 1-2009 standard.

Usage
On/Off and Mode Switching - When the headlamp is unlocked, press and hold the main switch for 0.5s to turn it on/off. The light functions of the selected lighting mode are then switched by briefly pressing the same switch.
Switching Between White Light and Colored Light - Rotate the light ring clockwise to select the lighting mode: White Light → Colored Light.
Lock/Unlock - With the headlamp on, rotate the light ring counter-clockwise (to the lock position) to lock it. Rotate the light ring clockwise to unlock the lamp and enter the previously used output of the currently selected lighting mode.
Memory for Last Used Output Mode - The headlamp has a memory and will turn on in the last set output mode of the selected lighting mode.
Gesture Control - With the headlamp on, press and hold the sensor switch; the headlamp will flash white three times, and the gesture-sensing function indicator will flash blue, indicating that this function is activated. Once activated, you can turn the headlamp on/off with a wave of your hand. With the headlamp on, press and hold the sensor switch again to deactivate this function. Turning off or locking the headlamp deactivates the gesture-sensing function. If you want to use this function, reactivate it after turning the headlamp on. The sensing range is approximately up to 10 cm in front of the headlamp and may vary slightly depending on the material and color of the sensed object, ambient light, selected light output, and wave speed. The gesture-sensing function uses an infrared sensor. If an object other than your hand moves within the sensing range in front of the headlamp, the lamp may also turn on/off.
Charging - Turn off the headlamp and plug the USB-C charging cable into the charging port. The indicator will glow red during charging. It will turn green when fully charged. During charging, the headlamp can be used in all modes except the highest one.
Battery Level Indication - Each time the lamp is turned on, or when the button is pressed while the lamp is off, the indicator LED will activate for three seconds. If the indicator glows green, the battery is more than 85% charged. Green flashing means 50-85% capacity. If it glows red, it is 25-50% charged. Red flashing indicates that less than 25% of the battery capacity remains.
Intelligent Overheat Protection - When using the headlamp in high output mode, it accumulates a large amount of heat. When the headlamp reaches a temperature of 60 °C or higher, it will automatically reduce the output by a few lumens to lower the temperature. When the temperature drops below 60 °C, the output will gradually increase again.
Low Battery Warning - If the battery voltage drops below the preset level, the headlamp will gradually decrease the brightness to a lower level. After reaching the lowest output, the battery level indicator will start flashing red to remind you to recharge the battery.
Warning
- Do not disassemble the sealed parts yourself, as this will void the warranty.
- Lock the headlamp to prevent accidental activation during storage or transport.
- During storage, check the headlamp every four months and, if necessary, recharge it to about 50% for optimal battery life.
- If the headlamp flickers, does not switch to higher output modes, or does not turn on, it may be for one of the following reasons:
- The battery is depleted, recharge it.
- The headlamp is locked, unlock it.
Warranty
Five-year warranty on the headlamp, two-year warranty on the battery.
